City Reps Attend CityNet Online Forum, Share Pandemic Prevention Best Practices

The 2020 CityNet Disaster Cluster Seminar took place on November 11. Yokohama city, the current chair city of CityNet’s Disaster Cluster, decided to move the event online due to COVID-19. This is also the first time for the seminar to be held over the Internet.
Due to the worldwide pandemic, the CityNet Disaster Cluster Seminar adopted an online format this year. Topics discussed during the event include disaster prevention planning for cities, as well as response and handling of the pandemic. Representatives of Taipei City shared the municipality’s experience in pandemic control.
Yokohama Deputy Mayor Hayashi Takumi and Mayor Abigail Binay of Philippines’ Makati kicked-off the seminar with their respective speeches. Participants include representatives from Yokohama, Makati, Seoul, Taipei City, Geoscience Australia, Keio University, Asian Institute of Management, and other NGOs and academic institutions.
During the seminar, Doctor Ku Wen-wei from Taipei City Hospital Renai Branch’s Division of Infectious Diseases delivered a presentation on Taipei City’s COVID-19 Responses and Management: Best Practices and Innovative Thinking to recount Taipei’s effort in building its pandemic prevention supply stockpile, assessment on future developments, and operations of Taipei’s Pandemic Prevention Command Center.
Yokohama and Seoul both shared their respective pandemic control experiences and achievements. Their representatives exchanged views with their Taipei counterparts, discussing the differences on policies adopted by the respective cities and innovative approaches.
