“Thank You, Taipei!” – Rapid Transit Division Assists Lost Mongolian Athletes in Reaching Airport on Time

On the evening of May 23, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., officers from the Third and Fourth Squads of the Rapid Transit Division, Taipei City Police Department—including Squad Leader Chu Hsin-Huang and officers Lu Chun-Hsing and Hung Chen-Tai—responded to a report of six Mongolian passengers appearing lost and confused near the information desk at MRT Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall Station.

Upon arrival, the officers found that the passengers were wearing T-shirts identifying them as participants in the World Masters Games 2025 Taipei & New Taipei City. The group, which included weightlifting athletes and accompanying staff, explained that they were en route to Taoyuan International Airport after completing their events. Unfamiliar with the Taipei Metro system, they got lost while transferring lines.

Despite the language barrier, the officers patiently assisted the travelers in purchasing tickets from the vending machine and escorted them into the station. They also helped store a copy of the MRT system map on the travelers’ phones and explained how to transfer to the Taoyuan Airport MRT at Taipei Main Station. In addition, the officers notified station staff at Taipei Main Station to assist the group upon arrival.

Thanks to the officers’ prompt and thoughtful intervention, the six Mongolian visitors were able to continue their journey and catch their return flight on time. As they departed, they smiled, nodded repeatedly, and gave enthusiastic thumbs-up, saying, “Thank you, Taipei!” They left with warm memories of their time in Taiwan.

The Rapid Transit Division reminds all World Masters Games athletes and visitors that if they become lost in the MRT system, they should remain calm and seek help from station staff or security personnel at nearby information counters. Bilingual signage in Chinese and English is available system-wide, with additional Japanese and Korean signage at select stations. For immediate police assistance, passengers may also dial 110. The Division remains committed to ensuring the safety and convenience of all metro riders.
