​Traffic Control Measures for 2022 Taipei Lantern Festival


 
    The 2022 Taipei Lantern Festival will be held at Meilun and Xuangxi Riverside parks and sections of Jihe Rd in Shilin district from February 11 to 20, 2022. The opening ceremony will commence at 7 p.m., February 12, at the Jihe and Danan roads intersection, and it is expected to attract a great number of citizens to the venue. In order to maintain traffic order and safeguard civilian safety during the event, the TCPD will be implementing the following traffic control measures:
 
  •  For roads surrounding the venue:
  1. The outermost lane of Jihe Rd between the Alley 251, Jihe Rd and Danan Rd intersections will be closed from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on February 12.
  2. Control measures of Jihe Rd and adjacent thoroughfares will be updated according to event turnout.
  •  Limitations on adjacent bicycle lanes:
  1. Restricted Passage implemented for the Xuangxi N. bank riverside bike lane (from Xuangxi Bridge to Huangxikou) from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. starting February 11 through 20.
  2. Restricted Passage implemented for the Xuangxi N. bank riverside bike lane (from Huangxikou to Shilin Bridge) from 4 p.m. to 11 a.m. starting February 11 through 20.
  3. Cycling prohibited on the Xuangxi S. bank riverside bike lane (from Xuangshi to Shilin Bridges) from 4 p.m. to 11 a.m. starting February 11 through 20.
  •  Control Measures for sidewalks:
  1. Passage on both sides of Xuangshi Bridge walkways will be restricted on the following times and dates: from 8:10 to 8:50 p.m. on February 11, from 8:00 to 8:40 p.m. on February 12, from 6:30 to 19:10 p.m. on February 19, and from 7:30 to 8:10 p.m. every day starting February 13 through 20.
  2. The walkway on Xuangshi N. bank ( from Huangxikou to Shilin Bridge) will be closed from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. every day starting February 11 through 20.
 
    The TCPD will like to remind eventgoers that all parking spaces adjacent the festival venue have been temporarily cancelled, and measures against illegal parking will be strictly enforced for the entire duration of the event. In order to prevent traffic jams from dampening the festive mood, it is advised that citizens take the MRT to the nearby Jiantan, Shilin or Zhishan stations, where a leisurely walk should bring you to the event location without too much trouble.
   
    For those who wish to instead make use of the bus system, please refer to the Taipei City Public Transportation Office’s website at (http://www.pto.gov.taipei/) to catch up on the latest changes to nearby bus routes. Finally, citizens who wish to drive to the event should tune in regularly to the Police Broadcasting Service’s traffic situation updates, and adjust driving routes accordingly. Adherence to the guidance of on-site traffic police and volunteers is also strictly advised in order to maintain traffic safety and smooth road conditions.
