The Ministry of National Defense in Taiwan has announced that the annual air defense exercise, Wan An No. 47, will be conducted nationwide from Monday, July 22 to Thursday, July 25, 2024. 

For residents in northern Taiwan, including Taipei City, Yilan County, Keelung City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu City and Hsinchu County, please be advised that the exercise is scheduled for 30 minutes, from 1:30-2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

During the 30-minute exercise, civilians shall follow the guidance of the police and civil defense staff to evacuate to the closest shelters. Failure to do so will result in fines under Taiwan’s Civil Defense Law.

During the exercise, the emergency notification system will be tested as well, signaling the start and end of the event.
