The 2024 Taipei New Year’s Party is set to begin from 7:00 p.m. on December 31, 2023, to 1:00 a.m. on January 1, 2024. To ensure smooth traffic flow in the Maokong area, a popular spot to watch the 101 fireworks, the Wenshan First Precinct, TCPD will implement traffic control measures thereon.
The following roads are subject to traffic control (at the discretion of TCPD):
1. 12:00 p.m. December 31st, 2023, to 2:00 a.m. January 1st, 2024:
One-way Traffic:Lane 38, Section 3, Zhinan Road from the Maokong Station (Maokong Gondola) to the Taipei Tea Promotion Center.
2. 6:00 p.m. December 31st, 2023, to 2:00 a.m. January 1st, 2024:
a. Intersection of Lane 38 and Lane 40, Section 3, Zhinan Road (controlled towards Zhinan Temple and Caonan Bridge).
b. Intersection of Lane 34 and Lane 38, Section 3, Zhinan Road (controlled downhill).
c. The Maokong Station (Maokong Gondola), the Taipei Tea Promotion Center, Caonan Bridge to the intersection of Lane 38 and Lane 40, Section 3, Zhinan Road (one-way traffic).
d. The Maokong Station (Maokong Gondola) → Lane 38, Section 3, Zhinan Road → Lane 34, Section 3, Zhinan Road → Lane 45, Laoquan Street (one-way traffic).
TCPD issues gridlock alert in the Maokong area based on expected increased numbers of visitors on New Year's Eve. To prevent traffic jams, a circular route plan has been arranged for vehicular travel: National Chengchi University → Lane 38 of Section 3 of Zhinan Road → Maokong Station of the Maokong Gondola → Tea Promotion Center → Caonan Bridge → Lane 40 of Section 3 of Zhinan Road → National Chengchi University.
Additionally, people are encouraged to use public transportation to avoid congestion. The Taipei Metro will extend "Maokong Gondola" service on New Year's Eve until 2:00 a.m. on January 1st, 2024. Moreover, the bus services "Brown 15" and "Small 10" will be extended until 1:30 a.m. on January 1st.
Lastly, TCPD will reinforce traffic guidance and violations enforcement on illegal parking. Drivers are advised to follow the directions of police officers and avoid illegal parking to ensure smooth traffic flow.
