Notice: Failure to Report Possession of Main Components of Imitation Guns May Lead to Fines Up to NT$ 5 Million

To prevent criminals from exploiting loopholes by disassembling and reconstructing main components of imitation guns into dangerous harm-inflicting illegal weapons, the Ministry of the Interior amended the Firearms, Ammunition, and Knives Control Act on January 3, 2024, to regulate main components of imitation guns.

Individuals who possess these main components before the amendment must report them by February 12, 2025. Main components must be registered at a local police station with proper identification for continued legal ownership or surrendered. Non-compliance will result in fines ranging from NT$200,000 to NT$5 million, and the items will be confiscated.

The Taipei City Police Department urges immediate registration to ensure public safety and continue to investigate illegal possession and pursue prosecutions under the law.
