Foreign Tourist Loses Souvenirs; Zhongzheng Police Swiftly Recover Them, Showcasing Taiwan’s Kindness as Its Finest Scenery
The Zhongzheng First Precinct recently assisted a Malaysian tourist in recovering a lost backpack, demonstrating proactive policing and warm hospitality that left the visitor deeply impressed by Taiwan’s kindness. Officer Li Jiaying from the Ren’ai Road Police Station handled the case. The tourist and their group had taken a taxi to the vicinity of Dongmen MRT Station. Due to carrying multiple pieces of luggage, they accidentally left behind a backpack filled with souvenirs in the vehicle. Upon realizing the loss, they became extremely anxious and promptly went to the police station for help. Officer Li patiently asked about the time and location of boarding and alighting, and quickly reviewed nearby surveillance footage. She successfully identified the taxi and immediately contacted the driver. Within half an hour, the driver cooperated and returned the backpack to the station, allowing it to be safely handed back to its owner. The tourist expressed sincere gratitude for the police’s prompt and attentive assistance, and praised the friendliness and warmth of Taiwanese society. The Zhongzheng First Precinct stated that helping the public overcome difficulties and safeguarding their property is a fundamental responsibility of the police.
