Taipei City to Issue Warning Notices During Testing Period of Multi-Functional Traffic Tech Enforcement Equipment at Intersections
Publishing Agency: Taipei City Police Department, Traffic Police Corps Contact Person: Chief Chien Tsung-wei Contact Information: 0930-899-059 To enhance traffic safety, the Traffic Police Corps of the Taipei City Police Department has selected a high-accident intersection in the city (the intersection of Heping West Road and Chongqing South Road) to conduct testing for multi-functional traffic tech enforcement equipment starting July 1, 2026. The educational and awareness period will run from July 1 to September 30, with official enforcement and ticketing scheduled to begin on October 1. The targeted violations include "running red lights," "failing to yield to pedestrians," and "failing to comply with traffic signs, markings, or signals." To help road users develop good driving habits, the police department will send a "Traffic Regulations Violation Awareness Notice" via registered mail to violators during the three-month testing period. These notices will carry no fines or penalties; their purpose is simply to inform drivers of their violations during the testing phase. The notice will also specify the official launch date of the tech enforcement equipment at that location to remind the public to strictly abide by traffic rules. The primary purpose of implementing tech enforcement is to reduce traffic violations and improve road safety and traffic flow by increasing enforcement efficiency. Drivers are reminded that when approaching intersections, through-traffic must not occupy designated left- or right-turn lanes. Conversely, vehicles planning to turn left or right should move into the designated inner or outer turn lanes well in advance and follow all signs, markings, and signals. Drivers must not cross double white or yellow solid lines, ensuring the safety and smoothness of traffic while protecting the lives and property of themselves and others.
